Running a restaurant is no easy task, and finding time to market it can be even more difficult. There are so many things that you crucial things that you have to take care of, many times the first thing that gets cut from your to-do list is marketing. Unfortunately, marketing should be one of the top things on your list (next to food and cleanliness). The real truth is that you can have the best food in the world, but if no one knows about it your restaurant will not last very long. Here are three secrets to a successful restaurant marketing strategy.
1. Make your location easy to find on the internet (and it person).
If people are considering going to your restaurant, the first thing that they are
going to do is look up your location. If they can’t find it right away there is a good chance that they will find somewhere else to go. To keep this from happening there are a few things you can do. First, make sure that your restaurant’s address is posted prominently on your home page. Next make sure that you put your address on your GooglePlus and Facebook page in the appropriate section. Finally, put your restaurant on several directory sites, this will not only help people find you, but it will also tell Google that you are a real restaurant and that you should be shown to people searching on their platform.
Also make sure that your restaurant has a nice visible sign on the front. This may seem obvious, but I notice, especially with small restaurants, that the owners put up a sign that is too small to be seen from the road. Make sure that your spend some money on a nice sign and that there are no trees or other things blocking its visibility.
2. Social Media!
Social media is one of the easiest ways that you can create buzz for your restaurant and it is also one of the most powerful marketing tools. This is because social media can give your restaurant patrons an easy outlet to recommend you to their friends. This “word-of-mouth” is one of the most effective marketing strategies for bringing new customers to a restaurant. Now when it comes to social media it is essential that you make a social media strategy. It will do you no good if you create the accounts, but never post on them. Instead set aside a certain amount of time every week to create content and interact with your followers. If you don’t have time for this you may want to consider hiring someone like The Social Jeanie to help you.
3. Good Pictures
People are visual. This is why big companies spend millions of dollars on product photography. Although you do not need to spend millions, you do need to have some good pictures. Pick out some of your “prettiest” dishes to photograph (and remember that yummy doesn’t always translate to pretty). I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with the other dishes you just want to fill your menu, website, and social media with your food that is most likely to get people hungry when they look at it. A picture can say a thousand words – and it can also get people hungry.
